Shared Decision Making Month 2014 is coming to a close as we begin the final week of March. During week three, we looked at shared decision making implementation in real world settings and showcased some of the key players involved in making it a reality. Several guest bloggers provided insight into how shared decision making is being implemented in distinctive ways in various settings. The Foundation staff nominated 25 Champions of Shared Decision Making; individuals who have spent their life’s work and passion in supporting, promoting and engaging in shared decision making. We had the opportunity to hear from three of our “champions” in a Q&A blog post series, providing more insight into their passion and vision for shared decision making. This week was full of examples of shared decision making in action, demonstrating the real potential for widespread adoption.
The theme of Shared Decision Making in Action will continue for week four (March 24-28). In the fourth week we will take a deeper dive into shared decision making implementation in today’s health care system. As the month ends, we will take time to reflect on the success of shared decision making so far and look to it’s future.
